DENVER-<\/strong> Boom Supersonic <\/a>has unveiled its Defense Advisory Group, a team of esteemed military and defense specialists assembled to evaluate the suitability of Boom’s Overture aircraft for national (US) security purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This independent council has been established to advance the development of defense-oriented versions of the Overture aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boom Supersonic US Defense Advisory Group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Overture is an eco-friendly supersonic airplane designed to achieve double the speed of current airliners, boasting a maximum range of 4,250 nautical miles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It delivers an exceptional blend of speed, payload capacity, interior space, and power, making it an attractive option for various applications, including national security missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boom has introduced its inaugural members of the Defense Advisory Group, a distinguished team encompassing individuals with extensive experience in various defense-related areas, ranging from retired General Officers to senior Department of Defense civilian executives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These experts possess specialized knowledge in mobility operations, executive airlift, Air Force acquisitions, and research and development within the defense sector. The founding members of the Defense Advisory Group are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. General William M. Fraser III, USAF (Retired): Former Commander of U.S. Transportation Command, Air Combat Command, and USAF Vice Chief of Staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

  3. General Carlton (Dewey) Everhart II, USAF (Retired): Former U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command Commander.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Lieutenant General Ted Bowlds, USAF (Retired): Former Commander Electronic Systems Command.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Mr. David E. Hamilton, Retired Senior Executive Service: Former Director and Program Executive Officer for the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Major General Lawrence M. Martin, Jr., USAF (Retired): Former Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Major General Kyle Kremer, USAF (Retired): Former Director of Strategy, Plans, Requirements and Programs for Air Mobility Command.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Executive Insights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Kathy Savitt, President of Boom Supersonic, expressed that the esteemed leaders joining the Defense Advisory Group will play a pivotal role in assisting the company in tailoring its aircraft for government clients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    She emphasized that Boom is confident in its ability to provide a valuable product to the Department of Defense through a specialized variant of Overture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Boom Supersonic, in its pursuit of advancing within the defense market and in conjunction with its collaboration with Northrop Grumman, will leverage the insights of the Defense Advisory Group to identify the most critical and valuable applications of supersonic transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Retired General Raymond Johns commented on the potential of Overture to deliver value to the Department of Defense, highlighting the wealth of experience that the advisory group brings to the table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He expressed his anticipation for continued collaboration with Boom to determine how Overture can be optimized to meet the unique requirements of the United States government and its global allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Supporting the US Aerospace Sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to the ongoing work on a specialized mission variant of Overture, Boom made an announcement in July about its collaboration with Northrop Grumman on a NASA contract. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This collaboration aims to provide solutions for the High-Speed Endo-atmospheric Commercial Vehicle Conceptual Design Study and Technology roadmap development program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This program is focused on researching and developing technologies to enhance the efficiency of commercial supersonic flight in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During the Paris Air Show in July, Boom revealed several advancements in the Overture program. These included securing agreements with key suppliers, such as Aernnova for Overture’s wings, Leonardo for the fuselage and wing box, and Aciturri for the empennage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Additionally, Boom highlighted significant milestones for SymphonyTM, the propulsion system designed for Overture. This included an expanded partnership with Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT), a business unit of Kratos, to assemble the initial production unit for ground testing, flight testing, and certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
