BENGALURU-<\/strong> Starting from Tuesday, Terminal-2 (T2) at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) <\/a>in Bengaluru will commence international operations and will also handle domestic flights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight operations at T-2, beginning at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, will include all international flights and domestic flights operated by four airlines: AirAsia India (I5), Air India (AI)<\/a>, Star Air (S5), and Vistara (UK)<\/a>. On the other hand, Terminal-1 will exclusively handle domestic flights operated by Akasa Air (QP), Alliance Air (9I), Indigo (6E), and SpiceJet (SG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru Airport Terminal-2 Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An official stated that T-2 will operate both international and domestic flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally, T-2 was scheduled to begin its international operations on August 31. However, one day before the planned commencement of international operations at T-2, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) declared a delay in relocating international operations to T-2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This last-minute decision was made during the final preparedness review to ensure a smooth and optimal transition for passengers, as stated by BIAL. Subsequently, BIAL announced that international operations would now commence on September 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by Bengaluru\u2019s reputation as the \u2018Garden City,\u2019 the terminal at Kempegowda International Airport showcases a design that captures the essence of its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Airport Technology<\/a><\/em>, the terminal\u2019s initial phase spans four levels and encompasses a built-up area of 255,661m\u00b2. Subsequently, Passengers embark on a unique journey through over 10,000m\u00b2 of green walls, hanging gardens, and outdoor spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the notable features is the expansive indoor garden adorned with rammed-earth walls, waterfalls, and hanging planted bells. Subsequently, the lush area serves as an entry point to the bustling retail section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forest belt, a three-storeyed outdoor space nestled between the main terminal and boarding gates, offers a refreshing experience for travelers, complemented by its connection to the shopping area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This natural oasis is visible from various indoor spaces and adds to the terminal\u2019s ambiance. An open call for proposals was announced for a monumental sculpture to be situated within the forest belt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terminal boasts walls made of brick, and floors adorned with natural terrazzo. It has an engineered bamboo ceiling, creating a contemporary and timeless aesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, an expansive outdoor garden, situated around a lagoon, serves as a plant nursery for maintenance purposes and is connected to Terminal 1 and the airport hotel through elevated walkways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lagoon collects rainwater, which can be reused for various processes, such as cooling and irrigation. Furthermore, Advanced technology and cutting-edge tools are integrated into the terminal to enhance airport operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
