NEW YORK-<\/strong> On September 8, 2023, the Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> flight from Accra (ACC), Ghana, to New York (JFK)<\/a> underwent a diversion and emergency landing at Praia da Vit\u00f3ria (TER) located on Terceira Island in the Azores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This diversion was reportedly initiated due to concerns related to oxygen levels on board the aircraft. The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing <\/a>767-300ER, registered as N191DN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Ghana to New York Emergency Landing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While Praia da Vit\u00f3ria Airport in the Azores is relatively remote, it serves Azores Airlines. It has connections from airlines such as Ryanair, TAP Air Portugal, TUI Fly (seasonally), and SATA Air Acores. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport boasts a nearly 11,000-foot runway, making it well-prepared for diversions, and its geographic location means diversions there are not uncommon. However, Delta Air Lines does not have its own ground staff at this airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In situations where the airline lacks its own ground staff, passenger assistance at the airport is likely to be limited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information provided to passengers may also be restricted, primarily relying on crew members who may not prioritize customer service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
