ATLANTA-<\/strong> US carrier Delta Air Lines (DL) <\/a>is making a substantial change to its fight network by canceling flights to Maui and A350 <\/a>deployment on the European route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, Delta has formally requested a suspension of its flights <\/a>until March 30, 2024, for the seven routes connecting Atlanta to Havana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Flight Network Change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta Air Lines has decided to cancel two routes to Maui (OGG):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. The route from Minneapolis (MSP) to Maui (OGG) was canceled before its scheduled launch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The resumption of the Atlanta (ATL) <\/a>to Maui (OGG) route has also been canceled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The ATL-OGG route was originally set to resume next month, while MSP-OGG was planned to commence in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, Delta still intends to operate flights from OGG to destinations such as Seattle, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Additionally, United Airlines is reducing its long-haul service to OGG. The Newark (EWR) to OGG route will only have three flights this winter, scheduled for December 23, 30, and January 6, flags Ishrion Aviation<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Aircraft Change<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Delta Air Lines is set to introduce its Airbus A350-900 aircraft on its Atlanta to Madrid route. Starting from March 30, 2024, Delta will offer daily flights between Atlanta and Madrid on the A350 (formerly operated by LATAM). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This move enhances Delta’s robust A350 network originating from Atlanta, which includes flights to destinations such as Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Barcelona (BCN), Paris (CDG), Cape Town (CPT), Dublin (DUB), Tokyo-Haneda (HND), Johannesburg (JNB), Seoul-Incheon (ICN), Lima (LIM), Milan (MXP), Santiago (SCL), and Tel Aviv (TLV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Cutting Cuba Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Delta plans to reduce its flights between Miami and the Cuban capital by half, specifically, seven out of the 14 flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The rationale behind these changes is that Delta perceives the routes as being underutilized. Nonetheless, the airline remains hopeful that demand will rebound, enabling them to resume regular travel <\/a>operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Delta had previously secured a suspension during the summer for similar reasons. Further, they anticipate that the situation may recur, with the USDOT granting them the necessary license until passenger demand recovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Just one year ago, Delta and United had not yet resumed flights since their suspension in 2020 due to the pandemic. At that time, only American Airlines and JetBlue were operating flights to Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
