DELHI-<\/strong> As part of its strategy to enhance its worldwide network, Air India (AI) <\/a>has established an interline partnership with Bangkok Airways (PG) to improve connectivity within Thailand <\/a>and various Southeast Asian nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaboration facilitates seamless connections through Air India’s Bangkok, Hong Kong<\/a>, and Singapore gateways to and from 10 destinations situated in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, all of which are part of Bangkok Airways’ route network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Interline Agreement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The agreement grants travelers complimentary lounge access at eligible airports, irrespective of their cabin class, as stated by Air India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India passengers now have the option to connect to various Thai destinations such as Chiang Mai, Lampang, Sukhothai, Trat, Koh Samui, Phuket, and Krabi through Bangkok Airways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the interline partnership extends to international destinations, including Luang Prabang in Laos and Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the Bangkok gateway, Air India passengers also have the choice to travel to Koh Samui via Singapore and Hong Kong, as stated by the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration between the two airlines encompasses the implementation of Inter Airline Through Check-In (IATCI), enabling passengers to receive their boarding passes at their initial departure point for all travel segments covered by a single ticket. This includes the convenience of having their baggage checked through to their final destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Air India offers daily flights to Bangkok from Delhi and Mumbai, flights to Singapore from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, and operates thrice a week to Hong Kong from Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are delighted to establish an interline partnership with Air India, which will enhance the connectivity of our route networks, providing both business and leisure travelers with exceptional and convenient access to new destinations. Furthermore, passengers flying with Air India on Bangkok Airways flights will have the opportunity to experience the outstanding services offered by our boutique airline, including lounge access at eligible airports, in-flight meals, and more,” stated Chulin Kocharoen, Vice President of Network and Product Development at Bangkok Airways PLC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI and AIX Codeshare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express (IX)<\/a> is poised to finalize a new codeshare deal with Air India (AI) <\/a>and withdraw from all routes that demand business-class capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, shift the operational control centers of both AirAsia India (I5)<\/a> and Air India Express to a newly established office<\/a> in Gurugram, as revealed by two undisclosed airline executives to Mint<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These measures form a key component of a comprehensive strategy that encompasses the amalgamation of AirAsia India and Air India Express.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this strategy, the combined entity will function as Air India\u2019s budget-friendly unit, catering to economical travel needs by offering cost-effective flights on routes that are not central to major air corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to one of the aforementioned executives, the establishment of codeshare flights is anticipated to bolster Air India\u2019s connectivity capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, it enables the parent airline to draw international and domestic passengers from smaller cities targeted by Air India Express rather than Air India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
