Further ensuring a remarkable journey for each individual.

Furthermore, the announcement also highlighted that the maiden route to showcase the new aircraft would be JAL’s New York to Haneda (JFK-HND) route.

This selection signifies the airline’s dedication to debuting the innovative features of the aircraft on a significant international route.

Photo: Japan Airlines

Photo: Japan Airlines

In the latest update, just this August, Japan Airlines provided insights that the upcoming Airbus A350-1000 is anticipated to make its debut towards the end of November.

Accompanying this announcement were several photos that depicted the aircraft with its engines successfully installed.

Photo: GUTIERREZ Eric Photographe

November Launch

While Japan Airlines hasn’t provided a specific launch date for the A350-1000. But the most recent information suggests it will be introduced sometime in “late” November.

FlyerTalk members observed in February that the airline seemed to be offering fewer first-class seats on flights between New York (JFK) and Tokyo Haneda (HND) starting in late October.

Presently, Japan Airlines operates a 777-300ER with 8 first-class seats on this route, but they appeared to be selling only 6 seats during that period. This implies that Japan Airlines might be unveiling a new first-class cabin with a reduced capacity of 6 seats instead of 8.

With the transition from 8 to 6 first-class seats, we can speculate about the design of the new cabin. It’s likely that they will be arranged in a 1-1-1 seating configuration due to the smaller capacity.

However, there’s potential for a more unconventional arrangement, such as a pair of seats placed next to each other, which would be ideal for passengers traveling together.

Drawing inspiration from existing first-class cabins with six seats, we can look at Emirates’ latest 777-300ER first class and Qantas Airways’ (QF) upcoming A350-1000 cabin.

Emirates (EK) offers fully enclosed cabin suites with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors on some of its 777s. Subsequently creating one of the most private first-class experiences.

It would be exciting to see Japan Airlines introduce a similar concept. However, a challenge with this layout is that all six seats might feel somewhat isolated in a 1-1-1 configuration. Particularly for passengers traveling together.

Stay tuned with us.
