MIAMI-<\/strong> Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> is introducing a new route from Miami (MIA)<\/a> to Nassau (NAS) in the Bahamas, covering a relatively short distance of 184 miles. This addition may appear to deviate from the airline’s conventional hub-and-spoke approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upcoming daily service is scheduled to commence on November 5 and will continue year-round, utilizing a Boeing 737<\/a> aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Miami to Nassau Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On a different note, Delta has decided to cancel its planned route connecting Boston to Mexico City, a route that was initially announced in May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally slated to launch on December 21 of this year, the airline has now removed this route entirely from its schedule due to “commercial and operational considerations,” as mentioned in a statement provided by Delta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simultaneously, in another development pertaining to Caribbean operations, Delta will extend its service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Nassau to operate throughout the year, reports TPG<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the airline will introduce an extra daily frequency on Saturdays, starting from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Aruba, beginning January 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As previously mentioned, Miami does not serve as a hub for Delta. But it is gradually transforming into a significant gateway city for the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Partnership with LATAM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a surprising move back in September 2019, Delta caused a stir in the aviation industry by revealing its acquisition of a 20% stake in LATAM, effectively leading LATAM to exit the Oneworld alliance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this investment, Delta has been actively forging a strategic partnership with LATAM, particularly focusing on enhancing flight connections in major U.S. gateway airports to destinations in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaboration enables both carriers to share revenue on flights operating between the United States, Canada, and South America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the partnership has been granted antitrust immunity, allowing Delta and LATAM to coordinate flight schedules and fares within these markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of their cooperative efforts, Delta is aiming to transform Miami into a pivotal “gateway hub,” streamlining connections via Miami to various cities across Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of this initiative, both airlines have recently introduced new services in Miami, including recently launched or expanded routes to Boston, Los Angeles, Orlando, Salt Lake City, and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
