FRANKFURT-<\/strong> German flag carrier Lufthansa (LH)<\/a>, in its most recent update to its schedule, has designated its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner<\/a> aircraft for the Frankfurt (FRA)-Mumbai (BOM)<\/a> route starting October 29, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 787-9 will serve the daily LH756 <\/strong>flight until January 14, 2024, at which point the Boeing <\/a>747-400 will resume operating the Frankfurt to Mumbai route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa 787 to Mumbai<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Previously, Lufthansa’s utilization of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft predominantly centered on North American routes<\/strong>, encompassing flights to destinations like Austin (AUS), Detroit (DTW), Newark (EWR), Dallas (DFW), Denver (DEN), and Montreal (YUL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business Traveler<\/a><\/em> reports that the 787-9 represents Lufthansa’s most recent addition to its long-haul fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of July 31st, according to Boeing data, Lufthansa still has 34 more 787-9s on order. Prior to this, Lufthansa introduced five initial 787-9s into its fleet, originally intended for Hainan Airlines (HU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first group of aircraft in this series is equipped with distinct interiors compared to the upcoming ones, which will be tailored to include Lufthansa’s new Allegris business class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among these initial five 787-9s, one will be allocated to operate the Frankfurt-Mumbai route. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft features seating for 26 passengers in business class, organized in a 1-2-1 arrangement; 21 passengers in premium economy, set up in a 2-4-2 configuration; and 247 passengers in standard economy, arranged in a 3-3-3 layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Asia-Pacific Routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa has made several updates to its Asia-Pacific schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting October 29, the airline will increase its Munich (MUC)-Osaka (ITM) flights from three times a week to daily operations. The Airbus <\/a>A350-900 aircraft will be used for the Munich-Osaka route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, as previously announced, the Airbus A380 will replace the A350-900 on the daily Munich-Bangkok (BKK) route beginning on October 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the A340-600 will continue serving the daily Frankfurt-Hong Kong (HKG) route during winter. Initially, the plan was to switch to the smaller A340-300 aircraft for this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
