DHAKA-<\/strong> In an unexpected series of events, the bird strikes during take-off resulted in damage to Boeing 737<\/a> from two different airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, both incidents did not result in any casualties. However, the aircraft was severely damaged by the bird hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biman Bangladesh: Bird Strike at LG<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the initial incident, Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG<\/a>) flight BG388, operating on the Dhaka-Bangkok route, had to abort takeoff in the final acceleration phase due to a bird strike, which resulted in one of its tires bursting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, passengers on the flight had to deboard on the taxiway, according to a senior pilot from the national airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the affected passengers were transported to Bangkok via another aircraft provided by Biman, as confirmed by a senior official from the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A team of Biman engineers is currently examining the aircraft to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the bird strike. Further, the aircraft involved in the incident is Boeing 737-800.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fly Dubai: Bird Hit Left Engine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the second incident, a Fly Dubai (FZ)<\/a> flight had to abort its takeoff due to a bird strike that occurred on its left engine. This bird strike caused damage to three propeller blades of the engine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft had to be stopped during the final phase of takeoff, and sources at the Dhaka airport reported to The Daily Star<\/a><\/em> that two wheels of the plane also experienced melting as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like Biman Bangladesh, the Fly Dubai flight is also operated by Boeing 737-800.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this incident, both flights were severely delayed. BG388 was delayed by almost five hours and 30 mins, while FZ524 was delayed by more than two hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to aviation experts, bird strikes, particularly during take-offs and landings, pose a significant danger because jet engines can experience reduced thrust after ingesting birds. They emphasized that this potential loss of thrust could potentially result in serious accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

 <\/strong>The Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> flight DL205 from Stockholm (ARN), Sweden, to New York (JFK), US, encountered bird strikes during takeoff from ARN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the source, the Delta DL205 operated the Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft. Furthermore, the aircraft has the registration N191DN. The Delta flight crew declared an emergency and landed safely back to ARN after getting clearance and dumping fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after take-off, the aircraft experienced a halt in its ascent. According to police reports, it appears that the aircraft encountered one or more bird strikes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering that the aircraft was carrying its full capacity of 180 passengers and crew members, the pilots decided to release fuel over the Baltic Sea before returning to Stockholm Arlanda Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At approximately one hour after its initial take-off, the Boeing 767 safely landed back at the airport. Emergency services were present as a precautionary measure upon its arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
