Hawaii of Europe Opens for US Travelers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This year, the Azores have emerged prominently on various lists encompassing diverse aspects like wellness travel, wine culture, affordability, natural beauty, stopover opportunities, and even less crowded alternatives within budget-friendly Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geographically situated far from the mainland, the Azores archipelago lies around 1,000 miles away from any visible land, despite being technically considered part of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an autonomous region of Portugal, the Azores comprise nine distinct islands. Each island boasts its own distinct landscape and charm, yet most tourists typically manage to visit only one or two due to time constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The islands constituting the Azores are Corvo, Faial, Flores, Graciosa, Pico, Santa Maria, S\u00e3o Jorge, S\u00e3o Miguel, and Terceira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Azore Airlines Three New US Routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Azores Airlines, a compact Portuguese carrier, aims to extend its presence in North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commencing in June 2024, the airline intends to introduce flights between Porto, a significant Portuguese city and prominent tourist hub, and three prominent North American destinations: Boston, New York City, and Toronto. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will employ its Airbus A321neo fleet for these routes. As revealed by Aeroroutes<\/em>, the flights for each of these routes are scheduled to operate once a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Azores Airlines offers flight links to 11 North American destinations departing from the Azores, a self-governing archipelago under Portuguese jurisdiction, reports TPG<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report by Aviation Week<\/em>, these new routes signify Azores Airlines’ return to operating transatlantic flights from mainland Portugal since 2017, following the discontinuation of routes between Boston, Toronto, and Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the introduction of these transatlantic flights to North America, Azores Airlines aims to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for international travel in the region, particularly considering Portugal’s surge in popularity as a sought-after tourist destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Existing Flights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the airline runs routes connecting Ponta Delgada, the principal city of the Azores, and Terceira, an island within the archipelago, to the cities of Boston, New York City, and Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Azores Airlines also provides flight services connecting New York City with Funchal, the administrative center of Madeira, another autonomous region within Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight schedule details are as follows: Flights from Porto’s Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO) to Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) are set to commence on June 1, 2024; flights from OPO to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) will begin on June 4, 2024; and flights from OPO to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will take off on June 6, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
