VIJAYAPURA-<\/strong> Karnataka government is contemplating the operation of newly established airports within the State, which have been entirely funded by the State itself, rather than entrusting them to the Airports Authority of India (AAI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M.B. Patil, the Minister for Major Industries and Infrastructure Development, mentioned in Vijayapura that airports such as Kalaburagi and Shivamogga have been developed using State funds, and the upcoming projects in Hassan and Vijayapura are also being financed solely by the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karnataka New Airports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These endeavors have not received any financial support from the Union government. Consequently, it appears impractical to transfer their management to the AAI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State government is currently exploring the possibility of independently operating and maintaining these airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He communicated with reporters following his examination of the airport premises. The overall expenses for the project are anticipated to reach approximately \u20b9400 crore, according to his statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up to this point, the State government has allocated \u20b9300 crore for the ongoing efforts. To ensure the continuous advancement of the project, an additional \u20b950 crore has been disbursed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure adherence to the scheduled completion date of April 2024, efforts on the Vijayapura airport will be accelerated, mentioned Mr. Patil. The upcoming airport is expected to contribute to the export of agricultural products like grapes and enhance tourism in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Remarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Minister overseeing the district mentioned that the construction work for the Vijayapura airport, covering an expanse of 727 acres, will be concluded by the upcoming December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The initial plan for the airport was centered around daytime flight operations. However, I have directed officials to incorporate provisions for night landing capabilities. The necessary equipment to enable night landings will be acquired promptly. Moreover, we are strategizing to enhance the airport’s capacity to accommodate larger aircraft, including jumbo-sized planes,”<\/p>\nM.B. Patil, the Minister for Major Industries and Infrastructure Development<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“To ensure this, we are embarking on additional land acquisition efforts. In line with DGCA regulations, two fire extinguisher vehicles will be stationed at the airport. Passenger amenities, including lounges, a canteen, restrooms, and more, will be on par with those found in larger airports,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PWD Officials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Public Works Department officials have submitted an application for environmental clearance. Additionally, a multidisciplinary team from the Union government has been requested to assess the project and is expected to conduct a visit this August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first package, costing \u20b9222.92 crore, encompasses the development of main and peripheral roads, apron, taxiway, and related elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second package, valued at \u20b986.20 crore, involves the construction of the passenger terminal, ATC building, electricity substation, compound, watchtower, and underground tank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third package, budgeted at \u20b919.30 crore, focuses on electromechanical devices. Moreover, expenses amounting to \u20b919.41 crore have been allocated for power supply, survey, and other related costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event saw the presence of various dignitaries, including Member of Legislative Assembly Vitthala Katakadonda, KSIIDC Managing Director M.R. Ravi, Deputy Commissioner T. Bhoobalan, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde, Superintendent of Police H.D. Ananda Kumar, and others.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
