MELBOURNE-<\/strong> In an unexpected turn of events, Tata-owned Indian FSC Air India (AI)<\/a> flight from Melbourne (MEL)<\/a>, India, to Delhi (DEL) <\/a>made a U-Turn after being airborne for almost one hour and 20 minutes due to Medical Emergency<\/strong> (Updated)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India operates daily flights between two important cities using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 data, the Air India flight AI309<\/strong> took off from Melbourne Airport (MEL) at 11:02 PM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After remaining airborne for more than one hour and 20 minutes, the flight crew decided to return to MEL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After encountering onboard medical issues, the flight crew made a U-turn without wasting any time and burning extra fuel. The flight landed safely at MEL at 1:38 AM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight operated by Boeing 787, registered as VT-ANK, remained airborne for approx two hours and 30 minutes. Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident is 10.8 years old; Boeing delivered it to AI in Dec 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After remaining on the ground for almost two hours, the flight again departed from MEL. Fortunately, it’s in the air and is almost midway, flying over Southeast Asian countries at the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
