MELBOURNE-<\/strong> With the new Boeing<\/a> 787’s arrival, Australian flag carrier Qantas (QF)<\/a> bolsters its international network and boosts the frequency of Sydney (SYD) Auckland (AKL) New York (JFK) flights from three to four<\/strong> per week from late October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Group aims to offer one million additional seats on its international routes over the next year, extending choices for travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas Increases Sydney New York Flight with Final 787<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qantas Group adds its eighth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner<\/a>, ‘Snowy River,’ to its fleet. The aircraft arrived in Melbourne after a 19-hour delivery flight from Seattle, increasing international capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Qantas is steadily expanding its fleet, welcoming eight new aircraft and two returned A380s <\/a>this year. Subsequently, the latest Dreamliner will operate QF9 from Melbourne to Perth and onwards to London, enhancing international connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QantasLink’s first Airbus A220<\/a> aircraft is under construction<\/a> in Canada, part of the Qantas Group’s ambitious fleet renewal program. Up to 299 new aircraft will replace and expand the narrowbody fleet, with new aircraft joining the fleet approximately every three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, Qantas invites Australians to participate in naming the new fleet around the theme ‘native wildlife.’ Over 4,000 submissions have already been received, and the public has two more weeks to submit names on qantas.com. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A shortlist will be unveiled for voting before the final names are revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas International & Freight CEO Cam Wallace stated, “Increasing aircraft means more flying, great news for customers and our staff. Welcoming a new aircraft is always exciting for Qantas teams. With many involved in preparing ‘Snowy River’ for its maiden London flight today.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“More to come as our largest fleet renewal program ramps up. This year, we’ve added eight new aircraft to the Qantas group network, and four more are on track within six months,” added Mr Wallace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

$2 Million Investment in Regional Australia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thirty-two community groups will receive a total of $2 million in grants from Qantas through its Regional Grants program, supporting not-for-profit projects in regional Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant recipients, selected from a record 1600 applications, will receive flights, cash, and marketing support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Qantas Regional Grants program receives enthusiastic responses, with a significant number of applications from New South Wales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Queensland, Victoria, and Northern Territory also secure five grant winners each, while Western Australia has four, and South Australia, Tasmania, and Australian Capital Territory have one each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Federal Minister for Regional Development, Local Government, and Territories Kristy McBain applauds Qantas’ investment in diverse priority projects across regional Australia, citing lasting benefits for these communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The judging panel, chaired by QantasLink’s Chief Operating Officer, awarded grants based on application strength, involving two independent community panelists and two QantasLink pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
