DELHI-<\/strong> Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet (SG)<\/a> aircraft experienced a fire incident while undergoing engine maintenance at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline confirmed that both the aircraft and maintenance personnel are safe, putting concerns to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpiceJet Plane Catches Fire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the engine ground run at around 8 pm, the maintenance engineer noticed a fire warning on one of the engines, leading to immediate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a precautionary measure, the aircraft fire extinguisher bottle was discharged to control the situation effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, a video emerged on social media, quickly gaining traction. The video captures the moment when a section of the aircraft caught fire, emitting thick, billowing smoke into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SpiceJet, an Indian airline established in 1984, has faced previous safety incidents, which prompted regulatory measures. In October last year, the airline encountered a temporary 50% flight cap due to a series of air safety concerns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently announced that SpiceJet has been removed from its enhanced surveillance regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated on the airline’s website, the aircraft involved in the incident is a Q400, a turbo-prop aircraft with a seating capacity ranging from 78 to 90 passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of stringent safety measures and vigilance during aircraft maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, the maintenance personnel’s prompt response and the fire brigade’s swift action prevented further escalations of the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
