TUNISIA-<\/strong> Flag carrier Iraqi Airways (IA) has announced an auction for two parked Boeing 747s at Tozeur-Nefta airport, western Tunisia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 747s up for auction include a 747SP (YI-ALM) and a 747-200 (YI-AGP), both manufactured in 1982 with Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Gulf War, they were retired from the fleet and have been stationed at Tozeur-Nefta airport, reported Flightglobal<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing 747 on Sale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The auction, scheduled for 16 August, will see these iconic aircraft go under the hammer. Iraqi Airways has valued each plane at $494,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants are required to submit a deposit of 20% of this value to the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to join the bidding process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The successful bidder must finalize the transaction within seven days of the auction. Additionally, there are specific conditions attached to the use of the aircraft post-sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
