DELHI-<\/strong> Wadia-owned carrier, Go First (G8)<\/a> Airlines carried out the high-power engine ground run at the Delhi International Airport (DEL) yesterday (July 16, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline filed for insolvency earlier but is now preparing to restart its operations. Further, the airline facility and its preparedness have already been audited by DGCA at Mumbai and Delhi bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go First Engine Ground Run<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24, the Go First moved its parked aircraft to the area where they carried out the high-intensity ground power run-ups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the run-up is Airbus<\/a> A320neo, registered as VT-WDA. Further, it is one of the newest aircraft in the G8 fleet. It is just a nine-month-old aircraft, delivered to G8 in Sep 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has parked most of its fleet in Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM). These bases are the hub from which the airline operates most of the flights. Further, the airline will likely conduct more ground runs and schedule maintenance checks to keep its fleet airworthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DGCA Audit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a>\u00a0is analyzing the report of a special audit of grounded\u00a0Go First (G8), which is undergoing an insolvency resolution process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audit was conducted from July 4 to 6 and covered the facilities of the carrier in Mumbai and Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DGCA will decide on approving Go First\u2019s revival plan after taking into account the audit findings and other factors. Cash-strapped Go First, which had been flying for more than 17 years, stopped operations on May 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special audit is done to check the operational preparedness of Go First. The airline and aircraft lessors are engaged in a legal battle before the Delhi High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high court\u2019s ruling in this regard would also be a key factor in terms of the proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
