WICHITA, KANSAS-<\/strong> Spirit AeroSystems<\/a>, a subsidiary of Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, is pleased to announce the ratification of a new four-year contract with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) by its members of Local Lodge 839. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development marks an important milestone for the company. Subsequently, it reaffirmed its commitment to its employees and ensured a fair and competitive working environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spirit AeroSystems Workers Welcome New Contract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following the approval of the contract by the IAM-represented employees, Spirit AeroSystems is eager to resume its operations and fully restore production at its Wichita facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process will commence tomorrow, Friday, June 30. Further, the production will gradually return to its regular pace starting Wednesday, July 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Gentile, the President and CEO of Spirit AeroSystems, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome. He emphasized the company’s dedication to addressing employee feedback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated, “We listened closely to our employees and brought forward a fair-and-competitive offer. With its approval by our IAM-represented employees, we look forward to returning to the important work of delivering quality products to our customers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spirit AeroSystems will maintain close coordination with its suppliers and customers throughout the production restart process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Negotiations with Machinists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The discussions persisted throughout the week, with a firm commitment to reaching a prompt resolution on an equitable contract that fosters competitiveness while addressing the concerns of employees and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gentile also expressed gratitude for the continuous support provided by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal, which had been agreed upon by both sides\u2019 bargaining committees, included substantial wage increases. Further, a $7,500 ratification bonus and improvements to paid time off and job security. In addition to rejecting the proposal, the IAM local members also voted to authorize a strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing disappointment in the outcome of the vote, Tom Gentile, President & CEO of Spirit AeroSystems, stated that the company has been in continued discussions with IAM representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gentile emphasized that the company\u2019s focus has always been on providing a fair and competitive contract to its IAM-represented employees. He expressed a commitment to reaching an agreement with Local 839 as quickly as possible for the benefit of the employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
