SRINAGAR- <\/strong>India’s largest carrier, IndiGo (6E) Airlines<\/a> Srinagar (SXR) to Jammu (IXJ) flight diverted to Amritsar (ATQ) but after flying in the Pakistani Airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diversion’s reason is unknown yet, but it could be anything from poor weather to in-flight emergencies. But, strangely, the 6E flight diverted to a longer alternate aerodrome instead of returning back to SXR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Srinagar Jammu Flight Diverted to Amritsar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24, the IndiGo flight 6E2124 took off from Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar (SXR) at 3:36 PM, with approx one hour delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After takeoff flight made a circle instead of going straight toward Jammu. Subsequently, after 20 minutes, it entered Pakistani Airspace instead of starting its descent for landing at Jammu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the flight did many holding patterns near ATQ before landing at 4:52 PM local time. In conclusion, this flight showed some very strange behaviors, and we are waiting to get the official statement from IndiGo and DGCA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus<\/a> A321neo, registered as VT-IBN. Further, it is a new aircraft, only two months old. The IndiGo took delivery of it back on Jun 2, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a result of adverse weather conditions, an IndiGo (6E) Airlines flight traveling from Amritsar to Ahmedabad deviated into Pakistan airspace near Lahore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It proceeded to Gujranwala before returning to Indian airspace at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by Dawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to flight radar data, the Indian aircraft entered north of Lahore at around 7:30 p.m. with a ground speed of 454 knots, and it reentered India at 8:01 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dawn\u2019s report, a senior official from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) mentioned that such deviations were not uncommon during inclement weather and were permitted internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, numerous flights experienced diversions and delays. Due to reduced visibility at airports following an alert issued by the CAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the CAA spokesperson, the weather warning for Lahore was extended until 11:30 PM. According to Dawn\u2019s report, the visibility at Allama Iqbal International Airport is recorded at 5,000 meters on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
