PARIS-<\/strong> Qantas (QF) Group<\/a>, Australia’s leading airline, has finalized an order for nine A220-300 aircraft from Airbus<\/a>, adding to its existing backlog of 29 aircraft of the same type at Paris Air Show 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This order comes as part of Qantas’ fleet replacement program announced in May 2022, which also included the A321XLR<\/a> and A350-1000<\/a> orders. The carrier announced the decision to acquire additional A220s in February this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas Order Nine Airbus A220<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The delivery of Qantas’ first A220 is scheduled for the end of this year, and the airline plans to deploy these aircraft primarily on its extensive domestic route network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A220 boasts the latest generation technologies and features a wider, quieter cabin, ensuring enhanced passenger comfort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, with its impressive range capabilities, the A220 can fly farther than other aircraft in its category while significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International expressed his satisfaction with the incremental order. Further, “We are pleased to announce this additional order from Qantas.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The A220, known for its excellence, will be the perfect fit for Qantas’ domestic network, covering short hops as well as longer flights lasting up to five hours and beyond. The A220 will contribute from day one to Qantas’ ambitious Climate Action Plan, offering efficiency, comfort, and extended range,” added Christian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A220: Game Changer Airliner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The A220 is widely regarded as the most modern airliner in its segment, specifically designed for the 100-150 seat range. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It boasts an impressive range of up to 3,450 nautical miles (6,400 kilometers). It features its class’s largest cabin, seats, and windows. Further providing passengers with superior comfort throughout their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipped with the latest Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, the A220 aligns with Airbus’ commitment to sustainability. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A220 can operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Further, the company aims for all its aircraft to be capable of operating with 100% SAF by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus has received nearly 800 orders for the A220 from 30 customers worldwide, with 265 aircraft already delivered. The A220 is in service with 16 airlines globally, showcasing its exceptional performance and reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
