AMRITSAR- <\/strong>There is good news for Air Asia X (D7) <\/a>Passengers as the airline announced a direct flight service from Amritsar, Punjab, to Australia, Kuala Lumpur, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a joint press statement, Sameep Singh Gumtala, the Global Convener of FlyAmritsar Initiative, along with Yogesh Kamra, the Convener India of the Initiative, and Manmohan Singh, the Patron of Amritsar Vikas Manch, has announced that Air Asia X<\/a>, a Malaysian low-cost carrier, will resume its direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Amritsar starting from September 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These flights were suspended in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Asia X Amritsar to Kuala Lumpur flight <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air Asia X will initially operate four weekly flights, connecting Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar with major Australian cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Gold Coast. Passengers will have the convenience of short layover connections via Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development will bring relief to the Punjabi community residing in Australia and other Southeast Asian countries, as it will significantly reduce travel time and fares compared to flights from Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, travelers can easily access Air Asia X<\/a> flights via Kuala Lumpur to reach popular tourist destinations like Bangkok, Indonesia, the Philippines, and others within a short timeframe.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non-stop flight between Australia and Punjab<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gumtala stated that the FlyAmritsar Initiative and Amritsar Vikas Manch played a prominent role in initiating Air Asia X flights from Amritsar in August 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past year and a half, the Initiative has consistently followed up with key personnel at Air Asia X, <\/a>such as CEO Ben Ismail and Suresh Nair, the General Manager of India of the Air Asia Group, to encourage the resumption of these services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision by the airline management to resume these flights is greatly appreciated, as a significant number of Punjabi diaspora in Australia were using these flights via Kuala Lumpur. This development will facilitate travel for the Punjabi community and bring substantial benefits to Amritsar’s tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the available bookings on its website, the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Amritsar will leave at 7:35 am on Sunday and Monday, arriving at 11:00 am. The return flight will depart at 12:30 pm, reaching Kuala Lumpur at 8:55 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday and Friday, the flight will depart from Malaysia in the late evening at 8:25 pm and arrive in Amritsar at 11:50 pm. The return flights on Thursday and Saturday will depart at 1:00 am the following day and reach Malaysia at 9:25 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The high-density 377-seater Airbus A-330 aircraft, equipped with 12 flatbed business class seats, will be deployed by the airline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Malaysia-based airline, Batik Air, operates 4x-weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot offers 5x-weekly flights. Both airlines provide connections to Australia and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The return of Air Asia now provides Punjabis with more options and an increase in flights, which is expected to lead to lower fares. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting in 2017, our team has been reaching out to various airlines worldwide, providing them with detailed data and statistics. The initiation of this flight in August 2018 was a direct outcome of these efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamra mentioned that although low-cost carriers like Air Asia may lack certain amenities offered by other airlines, their tickets are significantly reduced by a considerable percentage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamra stated that passengers are provided with the option to choose and pay for services based on their specific needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Bus Service for Air Asia X Amritsar Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is particularly beneficial for budget-conscious travelers who can customize their experience by selecting preferred luggage weight options, food choices, seat preferences, and more, according to their budget requirements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can avoid spending excessively on airlines that include all these services in the ticket price, which often comes at a much higher fare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Charanjit Singh Gumtala, the patron of Amritsar Vikas Manch, along with Manmohan Singh Brar, expressed disappointment over the long-standing unfulfilled demand to initiate bus services from the airport to various cities in Punjab, despite the increase in the number of flights from Amritsar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, the State government initiated bus services from different cities in Punjab to Delhi Airport. However, despite the presence of more than 400 international and domestic flights operating from Amritsar every week, this demand has been neglected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amritsar is connected to over 10 major cities worldwide, including London, Birmingham, Rome, Milan, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
