DELHI-<\/strong> India’s largest carrier, IndiGo (6E) Airlines <\/a>Flight operating Airbus <\/a>A321neo from Kolkata (CCU) to Delhi (DEL)<\/a>, suffered the Tail Strike upon landing at DEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The severity of the tail strike led to the grounding of 6E A321neo. Further, the Indian aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a>, has stated the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo A321neo Tail Strike <\/strong>at Delhi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As per an official statement from the DGCA, it has been reported that the IndiGo A321neo with registration VT-IMG encountered a tail strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the incident involves a 6E Kolkata-Delhi flight with flight number 6E-6183. Additionally, the incident occurred during the landing process at Delhi on Sunday, June 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24, the IndiGo flight 6E6183 took off from Kolkata Airport (CCU) at 7:13 PM IST. After being airborne for almost two hours and covering a distance of 1,313 KM, it landed at DEL at 9:18 PM IST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 6E flight did a go-around first, and while attempting to land, it experienced a tail strike. Subsequently, the aircraft involved in the incident is A321-251NX or A321neo. Further, it has the registration VT-IMG and is only a one-year-old aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, the aircraft is currently grounded at DEL. Subsequently, it will undergo maintenance at IndiGo’s largest hangar at DEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DGCA Statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the DGCA, the sequence of events during the flight leading up to the incident was without any notable occurrences until the approach for landing at Delhi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the approach phase on runway 27, the flight crew perceived that the aircraft remained airborne for a longer duration than expected and subsequently decided to execute a go-around maneuver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is believed that during this go-around procedure, the lower section of the aircraft’s tail may have made contact with the runway surface, resulting in damages. As a precautionary measure, the operating crew has been taken off active duty pending further investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tail strike occurred during the landing at Nagpur <\/a>airport of an Indigo aircraft that had taken off from Mumbai International Airport. According to the news agency, the incident happened on IndiGo flight 6E-203 from Mumbai to Nagpur airport on April 14, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft was declared grounded at Nagpur Airport for assessment and maintenance, according to a statement issued by IndiGo. The airline added that no injuries were reported due to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight 6E 203 from Mumbai experienced a tail strike while making a landing at Nagpur Airport on April 14, 2023. At the airport in Nagpur, the plane was ordered to stay grounded for inspection and maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
