MUMBAI-<\/strong> On June 4th, Air India Express (IX) <\/a>will commence its Haj flights from Kannur and Kozhikode; the airline announced in a press release on Friday that the Haj charters will be conducted in two phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the initial phase, there will be 44 flights from Kozhikode and 13 flights from Kannur to Jeddah. With a planned capacity to transport 8,236 Haj passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express Haj Flights<\/strong> from Kannur and Kozhikode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the second phase, Air India Express will conduct 44 flights from Medina to Kozhikode and 13 flights from Medina to Kannur for the Haj operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the press statement, this is the airline’s first time providing Haj services in these cities in Kerala. Following its successful bid in the government tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the statement, the airline has implemented a system of color-coded pouches for elderly pilgrims to carry their boarding passes, along with brightly colored luggage tags. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These measures have been introduced to facilitate easy identification and minimize the risk of mishandling baggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the airline will be responsible for transporting Zam Zam water on the return ferry flights. Subsequently, storing it at Kozhikode and Kannur airports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon reaching their destination, each pilgrim will be provided with a 5-liter can of Zam Zam water, as stated in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights reductions<\/strong> between Indore and Sharjah<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As of May 12, Air India Express will operate its Indore to Sharjah and back to Indore flight twice weekly instead of three times each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight on Fridays has been canceled. However, the flights on Saturdays and Mondays will still run as normal. The airline changed the destination of the canceled Friday flight to Chandigarh. According to the notice, Chandigarh will operate the Friday flight instead of Indore, according to airport representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision was reportedly made in response to fewer passengers. Officials at the Airport Authority of India (AAI) reported this development on Monday. On March 31 of this year, Air India Express, a member of the Tata group, began operating the three times weekly trip between Indore and Sharjah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources, the aircraft has not received a positive reception since its launch, and most planes are currently operating at half capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
