As a result, 175 flights have been cancelled, impacting over 20,000 passengers.

This situation has arisen on the UK’s busiest day for air travel since 2019. Data firm Cirium indicates that approximately 8% of BA’s scheduled Friday services, totalling 83 flights, were cancelled. This follows the cancellation of 92 flights on Thursday out of the 860 that were initially planned.

BA issued an apology on Thursday, attributing the cancellations to “technical problems” that led to online check-in difficulties. In a statement on Friday, the company acknowledged that most of its flights were operating as scheduled.

However, they had to cancel some short-haul flights from Heathrow due to the lingering impact of the previous day’s technical issue. BA stated that affected passengers were provided with the choice to rebook an alternative flight or request a refund.

Stay tuned with us.
