MUMBAI- <\/strong>India’s largest domestic carrier, IndiGo (6E) Airlines flight, scheduled to depart from Chennai International Airport (MAA) to Singapore (SIN) in the afternoon, had to make an emergency landing at Port Blair Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) at around 02:20 PM due to a suspected technical issue, according to sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly, the aircraft had 91 male passengers, 56 female passengers, and 11 infants on board. Subsequently, the pilots executed a normal and secure landing at Port Blair Airport, ensuring the safety of all passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Makes Emergency Landing<\/strong> at Port Blair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Airport officials immediately conducted inspections and implemented measures to fix the technical issue after the safe landing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the incident, the scheduled Indigo flight from Port Blair to Bangalore at 02:30 PM was rescheduled to Singapore. Further, with the approval of DGCA, allowing international passenger movement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining passengers were transported to Singapore on another Indigo flight departing from Port Blair at around 5:15 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, the authorities made arrangements for food and lodging for the stranded passengers of the Indigo flight bound for Bangalore, which was diverted to Port Blair due to the emergency landing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials are now conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the technical issue that prompted the unscheduled landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Flight to Singapore Diverted to Indonesia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24, the Indigo Flight took off from Tiruchirapalli (TRZ)<\/small> at 7:27 PM IST instead of 6:30 PM. After being airborne for almost 4 hours, the aircraft bound for Singapore diverted to Kualanamu Int\u2019l Airport (KNO) in Indonesia. The plane landed successfully at 1:45 AM IST and is currently at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus<\/a> A320 Ceo, which is approximately 9 years old. The airline took delivery of VT-IAN in March 2014 and is powered by IAE V2500 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Incident took place on 9th May 2023 (Yesterday). Due to cabin pressurization issues, the 6E Airbus A320 aircraft with registration VT-IAN suddenly descended from 35,000 feet to 15,000 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crew reported a smell of rubber and fuel in the cabin. Subsequently, the flight was diverted to Kualanamu Airport in Indonesia. The incident was reported to the DGCA. The official also mentioned that the aircraft had a suspected bird hit during takeoff from Tiruchirappalli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
