A US Navy contract aircraft crash into the Pacific Ocean near Southern California on Wednesday morning. The US coast guards have launched a search and rescue operation for three people who were on board the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred around 8 am, approximately one-mile southwest of San Clemente Island, and was reported shortly after the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Coast Guard spokesperson identified the aircraft as a Navy contract plane that had taken off from Point Mugu, located in Naval Base Ventura County, which is situated about 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced via a tweet on Wednesday night that they have initiated an investigation into the crash of the Gates Learjet 36A. However, there is no information available about the identities of the three missing individuals or their connection to the Navy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Clemente Island, which the U.S. Navy owns,<\/a> is situated approximately 80 miles west of San Diego. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, and specific details regarding the incident are not clear at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial report from the Navy\u2019s Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility indicates an emergency onboard the Learjet. Further, the aircraft could not return to the runway on San Clemente Island. Further updates on the situation are awaited as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
