World’s oldest carrier still in operation, KLM, the parent company of Transavia, is facing difficulties with its fleet, resulting in canceled flights. KLM Cityhopper flights to European destinations are among the affected flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline is grappling with significant manpower shortages at its hangars, which could cause more scheduled flights to be canceled, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s spokesperson confirmed that KLM would cancel several KLM Cityhopper flights but couldn’t say which flights would be affected. However, they reassured the public that the airline would rebook all affected customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline is currently experiencing engine problems with some of its new aircraft, making it impossible to use them. KLM is leasing other devices for longer periods to compensate for the faulty equipment and is consulting with the aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, to resolve the technical issues. Despite the challenges, KLM maintains that safety is not at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another significant problem facing KLM is the shortage of staff, according to the aviation technicians\u2019 union NVLT. There are insufficient technicians and parts, and recruiting young technicians is challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maarten Stienen, KLM’s operational director, confirmed the technician shortage in an internal webcast, saying that the airline would still shift in the network in June. Still, there would be consequences for the timetable. He said that there would not be a massive cancellation wave, but some flights would be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KLM is aware of the impact of canceled flights on passengers and is committed to minimizing the disruption caused. However, the airline will not cancel flights at the last minute to avoid chaos with passengers at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
