According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a>, the crew of an IndiGo (6E) <\/a>flight bound for Singapore (SIN) reported a smell of rubber and fuel in the cabin, resulting in the aircraft being diverted to Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) in Medan, Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DGCA said that the IndiGo flight, operating under flight number 6E1007 from Tiruchirappalli to Singapore and flying on an A320CEO aircraft with registration VT-IAN, was diverted to Kualanamu International Airport in Indonesia on Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diversion was made after the cabin crew reported the smell of rubber and fuel in the cabin during the cruise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Flight to Singapore Diverted to Indonesia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Flight Radar 24, the Indigo Flight took off from Tiruchirapalli\u00a0(TRZ)<\/small> at 7:27 PM IST instead of 6:30 PM. After being airborne for almost 4 hours, the aircraft bound for Singapore diverted to Kualanamu Int’l Airport (KNO) in Indonesia. The plane landed successfully at 1:45 AM IST and is currently at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus<\/a> A320 Ceo, which is approximately 9 years old. The airline took delivery of VT-IAN in March 2014, and is powered by IAE V2500 engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Incident took place on 9th May 2023 (Yesterday). Due to cabin pressurization issues, the 6E Airbus A320 aircraft with registration VT-IAN suddenly descended from 35,000 feet to 15,000 feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crew reported a smell of rubber and fuel in the cabin. Subsequently, the flight was diverted to Kualanamu Airport in Indonesia. The incident was reported to the DGCA. The official also mentioned that the aircraft had a suspected bird hit during takeoff from Tiruchirappalli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Official<\/strong> Statement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Airlines issued a statement saying that the aircraft was diverted to Kualanamu airport in Medan, Indonesia, and was held there for a detailed inspection. The statement mentioned that the crew noted a burning smell in the cabin during the flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pilot followed the necessary procedures to divert to the nearest airport as a precaution. Subsequently, the initial inspections on the ground were satisfactory. But the aircraft was held at Kualanamu for a more thorough check. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also mentioned that the passengers were provided with accommodation. Further, an alternate aircraft was being flown to Kualanamu to take them to Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo flight 6E 282 from Delhi to Bagdogra turned around and returned to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi as a safety measure, according to a statement from IndiGo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pilot asked for a turnaround after seeing a technical problem. Having successfully landed, the aircraft is now undergoing the required examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A backup aircraft was made available for the passengers\u2019 flight to Bagdogra, according to an IndiGo statement. The source said there were 200 passengers on board the plane, and everyone is safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
