Japan Airlines has made the decision to add three dedicated cargo aircraft, specifically Boeing 767-300ER Freighters, to their fleet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the first instance in 13 years where JAL will have its own Freighters, and the rollout of operations will occur progressively starting at the conclusion of the fiscal year 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the considerable fluctuations in demand, JAL has been able to generate dependable and efficient revenue streams in the air cargo industry by implementing flexible business practices. Such as leveraging cargo space on passenger flights and chartering freighters from other companies as required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this success, JAL has decided to expand further in the cargo and mail sector and will now operate its own freighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of these Freighters will establish a novel business model, ensuring consistent and steady growth in demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, JAL will enhance its air transportation capabilities to satisfy the logistical requirements arising from the “2024 issue*” and contribute to resolving societal problems based on logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Characteristic #1: Establishing a novel business model to capture dependable demand. In order to capture the rapidly growing demand for domestic and international e-commerce, parcel delivery, and other high-growth cargo, we intend to forge partnerships with logistics partners and develop routes that guarantee dependable demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, we will strive to ensure that domestic air transportation is increasingly crucial in tackling the “2024 issue” while limiting business risks resulting from demand and market fluctuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Characteristic #2: Enhancing aircraft utilization ratios and profitability through hybrid operations of international and domestic routes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting in the fiscal year 2023, we will initiate operations of international flights, primarily in East Asia, and later begin domestic flights to optimize aircraft utilization and increase cargo loading ratios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, we will be responsive to customers’ needs by providing flexible options such as charter and non-scheduled flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
