Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to discuss plans to ease traffic at airports across the country in preparation for a busy summer season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the aviation sector continuing to grow and demand expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels, the meeting aimed to review traffic at various airports and devise strategies to alleviate congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Home Ministry, Civil Aviation Ministry, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with Mr Shah and Mr Scindia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a senior home ministry official who spoke to NDTV<\/em>. The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers by reducing airport traffic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting aimed to find ways to reduce the time taken for security check-ins at airports. Further, the civil aviation ministry has received feedback from various airlines indicating a high demand in India’s aviation market. Despite an increase in airfares, even during lean travel seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DGCA Traffic Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced the final summer schedule for domestic airlines in India, effective from March 26 to October 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 22,907 flights will operate from 110 airports across the country. Marking an almost 1,000-flight increase from the winter schedule of 21,941 flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This surge in flights reflects the booming aviation sector in India. According to DGCA data, during January-March 2023, domestic airlines witnessed an annual growth of 51.70 percent. Carrying 375.04 lakh passengers compared to 247.23 lakhs in the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aviation sector is expected to experience sustained expansion in the future. Further, aided by the incorporation of new airports and the growth of airlines’ fleets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
