The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted sanction for the proposed Sabarimala International Greenfield airport in Erumeli. We are marking a significant step forward in the state government’s ambitions to build an airport for pilgrims to Sabarimala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state government’s techno-economic feasibility study report was considered during approval. According to sources, the government will begin creating a detailed project report (DPR). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to sources, the government will reportedly locate a competent agency to prepare the DPR and start the proceedings as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sabarimala Greenfield Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project has cleared a significant hurdle by receiving the Civil Aviation Ministry’<\/a>s approval, according to V Thulasidas, special officer for the Sabarimala Airport, who confirmed the news. After reading our report, it took a while since the Union Ministry needed to clarify a few things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have reached a significant milestone in the technical side of the project because the sanction was granted following review by a steering committee run by the Civil Aviation Ministry, which is made up of representatives from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Airport Authority of India <\/a>(AAI), and other governmental agencies involved in the airport project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erumeli South and Manimala<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thulasidas stated that we can now move into all subsequent procedures. Under the direction of the Centre for Management Development (CMD). Subsequently, the social impact assessment (SIA) study for the project in the villages of Erumeli South and Manimala is currently in its final stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act (LARRA), 2013, SIA is required for land acquisition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The techno-economic feasibility report for the project, which Louis Berger created, is also almost finished. Louis Berger is currently working on the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). For the project, earlier soil tests were carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the latest government order (GO), a total of 1,039.876 hectares (2,570 acres) of land in the villages of Erumeli South and Manimala in the Kanjirappally taluk would be purchased for the development and building of the airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed area contains 307 acres of additional land outside of Cheruvally Estate. Furthermore, 2,263.18 acres of land inside the estate are owned by K P Yohannan’s Believers’ Church and managed by the Ayana Charitable Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
