Qantas (QF), the Australian national carrier, has launched new year-round flights from Melbourne to Jakarta. This will provide Victorian travellers access to another international route. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flights will operate three times a week using an Airbus A330 aircraft. It will complement Qantas’ existing flights to Jakarta from Sydney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, these flights offer almost 300,000 seats<\/strong> annually between Australia and Jakarta. Subsequently, providing customers with a choice of ten weekly flights, the highest frequency any other airline offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the fourth international route to be added to the Qantas map out of Melbourne since the borders reopened after flights to Delhi, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latter resumed flights last month, operating for the first time to Haneda Airport instead of Narita Airport. Subsequently saving passengers almost two hours of travel to and from downtown Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travellers connecting to and from other major Indonesian cities like Surabaya and Medan are also anticipated to prefer this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David<\/strong> expressed that Melbourne-Jakarta will help foster growing business and government ties between Australia and Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that there is strong demand for travel to and from Melbourne. Furthermore, adding this international route will provide more options for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The direct flights to Jakarta will be particularly beneficial for corporate travellers and Indonesians looking to visit Victoria or their loved ones during the Lebaran holiday season. Mr David also thanked the Victorian Government and Melbourne Airport for supporting the new route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Qantas Group offers up to 106 round-trip flights<\/strong> per week between Australia and Indonesia. This includes flights from Melbourne to Bali operated by Qantas and Jetstar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Qantas announced a multimillion-dollar investment in its menus, offering larger and premium meals across all cabin classes in its regional, domestic, and international network. The new menus started to roll out last month, featuring seasonal ingredients and plant-based options, coinciding with the Autumn season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
