{"id":30129,"date":"2023-04-06T15:17:48","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T09:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=30129"},"modified":"2023-04-06T15:17:50","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T09:47:50","slug":"delhi-airport-ranked-as-worlds-9th-busiest-in-2022-exclusive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/06\/delhi-airport-ranked-as-worlds-9th-busiest-in-2022-exclusive\/","title":{"rendered":"Delhi Airport Ranked As World&#8217;s 9th Busiest In 2022 | Exclusive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\"><strong>Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has been ranked as the world&#8217;s ninth busiest airport in 2022<\/strong>, handling 59.5 million passengers annually, according to data shared on Wednesday by the <strong>Airports Council International (ACI) <\/strong>World, a global organisation that measures and assesses airport standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Before the pandemic, IGI Airport was ranked 13th in 2021, and it was the 17th busiest airport in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1.jpeg\" alt=\"Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has been ranked as the world's ninth busiest airport in 2022, handling 59.5 million passengers annually, according to data shared on Wednesday \" class=\"wp-image-30130\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1-600x338.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/1-750x422.jpeg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>ACI data also revealed a <strong>60.2% increase in passenger traffic<\/strong> at the IGI Airport compared to the previous year, but it is still 13.1% lower than in 2019, indicating that, while passenger traffic has stabilised, it has yet to return to pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IGI Airport was also the only South and Southeast Asian airport to make the top ten list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the ACI report, the top ten airports for total passenger traffic, which account for <strong>10% of global traffic, saw a 51.7% increase from 2021<\/strong>.
