Klas Erik Herald Jonasm, 63, a Swedish national, <\/strong>was arrested in Mumbai on March 30, 2023, for allegedly molesting a female IndiGo cabin crew member<\/strong> on a Bangkok-Mumbai IndiGo flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the IndiGo flight landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday, the Swedish national was handed over to Mumbai police. The 63-year-old was allegedly inebriated when he molested the IndiGo flight attendant on the international flight from Thailand to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an official on Saturday, the accused was arrested on Thursday following a complaint by IndiGo Airlines and was produced in the Andheri court on Friday. He was later granted bail, and the Mumbai police filed a chargesheet in Andheri court. The police have also stated that they have begun an investigation into the case.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second such unruly passenger incident on a Thailand-India flight in the last three months, and the eighth unruly airline passenger arrested in India in the last three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 23, Mumbai’s Sahar Police arrested two IndiGo passengers travelling from Dubai to Mumbai for allegedly being inebriated and misbehaving with the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Two Indigo flight attendants were charged with being drunk and misbehaving with the crew under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 21,22, and 25 of the Aircraft Rules. Both were formally arrested, but because the sections were bailable, they were granted bail at the police station.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>Mumbai Police DCP Dixit Gedam <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Previously, Shankar Meena, a passenger on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi, allegedly urinated on an elderly female passenger seated in the flight’s business class. The incident sparked outrage, and various organisations demanded that DGCA<\/strong> rules be amended to address unruly passenger behaviour on flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
