JAL plans to start adding the planes into its fleet in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;We are pleased to choose the Boeing 737-8, a member of the very latest 737 MAX family, to replace our Boeing 737-800s, which make up the majority of the JAL Group&#8217;s fleet. Thanks to a mix of these super-efficient aircraft, operational advances, and new fuel-saving technologies, we look forward to conveying our passengers in the highest safety and comfort and to moving closer to our 2050 carbon-neutral ambitions.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<cite>Japan Airlines President Yuji Akasaka<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The 737 MAX will provide JAL with increased range and fuel efficiency, lowering both fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 15% when compared to the planes it is replacing.
