Boeing and Japan Airlines<\/strong> (JAL) have agreed on a purchase of 21 super-efficient 737-8 planes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The adaptable 737-8 will help JAL strengthen its domestic and regional network as passenger volume returns to pre-pandemic levels. JAL plans to start adding the planes into its fleet in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are pleased to choose the Boeing 737-8, a member of the very latest 737 MAX family, to replace our Boeing 737-800s, which make up the majority of the JAL Group’s fleet. Thanks to a mix of these super-efficient aircraft, operational advances, and new fuel-saving technologies, we look forward to conveying our passengers in the highest safety and comfort and to moving closer to our 2050 carbon-neutral ambitions.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nJapan Airlines President Yuji Akasaka<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The 737 MAX will provide JAL with increased range and fuel efficiency, lowering both fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 15% when compared to the planes it is replacing. Furthermore, the 737 MAX is a quieter airliner, with a much smaller noise footprint than the planes it replaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 737 MAX family features the most recent CFM International LEAP-1B engines<\/strong>, advanced technology winglets, and other aerodynamic modifications to improve performance. Around 50 airlines worldwide operate over 900 737 MAX jets, which have completed over 1.4 million revenue flights totaling more than 3.5 million flight hours since late 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
