IndiGo has around 500 planes<\/strong> on order and expects to receive around 40 of them by 2023, according to CEO Peter Elbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the new Air India order, he stated that it demonstrates India’s growth as a future aviation giant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“IndiGo has never ruled out any alternative. We do have a sizable order book. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have nearly 500 aircraft on order and a steady stream of deliveries on the way. That will be our primary focus.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do have the XLRs order<\/strong>, which will expand IndiGo’s operational range “<\/em>he stated<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Two out of every five orders<\/strong> placed worldwide are made by Indian carriers, according to Elbers, who said that India is currently underserved in the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding fleet expansion, he stated that an order had already been placed in 2019 and that deliveries have been ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elbers also mentioned the issues with the world's supply chains <\/em><\/strong>and what actions IndiGo has done to address them. It has introduced wet leases, extended existing leases, and kept some of the fleet operational that was supposed to be returned.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
He explained that in order to maintain its competitiveness,<\/strong> the airline has taken steps to bolster the advantages that helped IndiGo become the market leader.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

He stated that IndiGo presently flies to 76 domestic and 26 overseas locations, and that it anticipates adding 10-15 more destinations this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Pieter Elbers, the company’s CEO, the airline is planning to begin flights to Nairobi, Jakarta, and several places in central Asia as it focuses on internationalisation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the December quarter, the low-cost carrier carried 2.23 crore passengers, and in 2022, it held a 56.1% share of the domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As travel demand remained robust, IndiGo announced its highest-ever quarterly total income for the three months ending December 2022 at Rs 15,410.2 crore and a steep increase in profit at Rs 1,422.6 crore.<\/em><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
