However, it wasn&#8217;t reported to the authorities until it just came to light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">It was evening when the flight took off from Doha, and the aircraft climbed to a height of around 1800 feet before beginning a<strong> fast descent that took about 24 seconds and a loss of height of roughly 1000 feet.<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p> When the aircraft was cleared directly to that waypoint at a height of roughly 1600 feet, the first officer made an effort to turn in that direction while flying manually and without the flight director instructions (the captain was delayed to enter the Direct into the FMS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Qatar Airways 787 came within seconds of plunging into the sea after pilots lost situational awareness on departure from Doha in January. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aTdq3Sc2He\">https:\/\/t.co\/aTdq3Sc2He<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RvBd96hRWC\">pic.twitter.com\/RvBd96hRWC<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Breaking Aviation News &amp; Videos (@aviationbrk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aviationbrk\/status\/1623024421081387009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 7, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But before the captain regained control and the <strong>aircraft recovered around 800 feet above the sea, the first officer lost situational awareness, <\/strong>the aircraft dropped at a speed that was faster than the permitted flap speed, and it reached a sink rate of 3000 fpm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The aeroplane began to drop at a height of <em>1850 feet and descended to 850 feet 24 seconds later. <\/em>The aircraft then temporarily levelled out before restarting its ascent once the pilot regained control, according to ADS-B data. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be mentioned that following this, the plane arrived in Denmark without incident and all of the passengers were safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19728\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways.jpg 960w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Qatar-Airways-750x422.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The airline claimed that they are aware of an incident with QR-161 that happened on January 10, 2023.
