The Coast Guard stated aircraft controllers lost radar contact with the plane about 17 miles (27 kilometers) south of Hana, Maui, in the Maui Channel of the Pacific Ocean.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The Coast Guard states it is searching with the team in boats, a helicopter, and a cargo aircraft.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Coast Guard told one of its aircraft spotted a sheen in the search area.
