The inaugural flight departed on October 26th, operated by one of the airline\u2019s\u00a0Airbus A320\u00a0aircraft.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airline will now fly three times per day from\u00a0Johannesburg O R Tambo International Airport\u00a0(JNB), the busiest airport in the country, to\u00a0Durban<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/King_Shaka_International_Airport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> King Shaka International Airport\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>(DUR), the third-busiest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27685\" width=\"1034\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/lift-1024x576-1-750x422.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1034px) 100vw, 1034px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Lift | Aviationa2z.com<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lift Airlines is keen to fill the gap in the market left by the demise of both Mango and\u00a0Comair. The airline will however face significant competition on the route from four other airlines \u2013 <strong>FlySafair, South African Airways, Comair, and\u00a0Airlink.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-flight-schedule\">Flight schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The lift will operate 3 flights per day, each with a block time of one hour and 15 minutes. The schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Flight GE201<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 departs Johannesburg at 06:00 and comes to Durban at 07:05<\/li><li>Flight GE202\u00a0\u2013 departs Durban at 08:00 and comes to Johannesburg at 09:05<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Flight GE209<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 departs Johannesburg at noon and comes to Durban at 13:05<\/li><li><strong>Flight GE210<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 departs Durban at 13:55 and comes to Johannesburg at 15:00<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Flight GE211<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 departs Johannesburg at 16:00 and comes to Durban at 17:05<\/li><li>Flight GE212\u00a0\u2013 departs Durban at 18:05 and comes to Johannesburg at 19:10<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The CEO and co-founder of Lift, Jonathan Ayache, celebrated his airline\u2019s latest route launch, said,<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s no secret that Durban has had its fair share of struggles over the past 2 years, and we are just so proud and happy to play a small part in bringing back travel and tourism to such a deserving city. Following public consultations, the name King Shaka International Airport was chosen, in honor of King Shaka, the leader of the Zulu nation in the early 19th century. South Africa was hit hard by the pandemic, and the airport lost several routes as a result, including\u00a0British Airways\u2019\u00a0direct service to London Heathrow on its\u00a0Boeing 787\u00a0aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lift\u2019s inaugural flight to Johannesburg will provide an increase to Durban\u2019s King Shaka International Airport and the region\u2019s economy.
