The tourist state of Goa currently has one airport at Dabolim in South Goa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"537\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27672\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport.jpg 800w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport-600x403.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport-768x516.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/goa-international-airport-750x503.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Goa International Airport | Aviationa2z.com<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cScheduled commercial flight operations are likely to commence over the next two months,&#8221; an official aware of the growth stated, adding that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.narendramodi.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a><\/strong> is expected to inaugurate the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport will bring a huge relief to airlines and passengers as Dabolim often faces capacity constraints at the terminal and there is perpetual air traffic congestion. Mopa airport is built under the BOT model (Build, Operate, and Transfer) and will be operated through GGIAL by GMR for 40 years, extendable by 20 years, as per broad lease deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mopa airport in North Goa is being developed in stages initially to service about five million passengers per annum and will be scaled up as per traffic increase demands. This Airport will be a full-service airport catering to domestic and international passengers besides freight services, GMR Goa International Airport Limited has told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/download-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27673\" width=\"384\" height=\"256\" \/><figcaption><strong> Goa International Airport Limited | Aviationa2z.com<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>GMR group has told that it expects the airport to be in operation with a single runway, to begin with, which is about 3.5 Km in length, initially Code E compliant which means that the airport can handle even large aircraft from the B777 Series, B787 Series, and A330 family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Only 70 flights land at the Dabolim Airport daily, as no landing is allowed from 9 am to 2 pm at the facility.
