A Boeing 737 aircraft of Indonesia&#8217;s budget carrier Lion Air suffered an engine fire shortly after takeoff.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The flight was carrying more than 165 passengers and performed a successful landing at its base Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lion-air-flight\">Lion Air\u00a0flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lionair.co.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lion Air\u00a0flight JT330<\/a><\/strong> is a scheduled domestic service between Jakarta (CGK) and Palembang (PLM) with a scheduled departure of 15:10 and a coming of 16:15. It has been informed that the pilots experienced &#8220;unusual performance&#8221; on one of the engine components as the plane reached approximately 3,000 feet, and decided to return immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>While the nature of the engine trouble has not been confirmed by the airline, some images circulating on social media show what looks like one of the plane&#8217;s engines on fire.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-emergency-landing-at-soekarno-hatta-international-airport\">Emergency landing at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There were 169\u00a0passengers\u00a0and 6 crew members on the plane, which performed a successful emergency landing at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Soekarno%E2%80%93Hatta_International_Airport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, its base.<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Engine fires, while not expected, are not unheard of. Last month, an Air India Express plane had to be evacuated via slides after a fire broke out in one of its engines while it was still on the ground. The flight was loaded with 141 passengers, including 4 infants. The aircraft pushed back from the gate and was proceeding on the\u00a0taxiway\u00a0when smoke was noticed coming from the airplane&#8217;s number 2 engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, a SpiceJet aircraft in India had to land shortly after takeoff from Patna Airport (PAT) after 1 of the engines caught fire due to a bird strike.
