On Saturday, Akasa Air launched its first flight from Chennai<\/strong>, the fifth city in its network. As a result, the airline is now able to provide twice-daily flights between Chennai and Bengaluru.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will begin operating an additional daily flight on the Chennai-Mumbai route on September 15 <\/strong>and an additional daily flight on the Chennai-Bengaluru route on September 26<\/strong> as part of its ongoing expansion of its operations out of Chennai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to improve connectivity throughout India, the airline has also added a new route between Chennai and Kochi, which will start operating on September 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This swift growth of cities, routes, and frequencies is consistent with the airline’s plan to expand its network quickly but gradually throughout India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With the beginning of commercial flights from Chennai, the fifth city in our network, we have reached yet another milestone. Starting today, we’ll operate twice-daily flights on this new route in both directions “<\/em><\/strong><\/p>Praveen Iyer, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Akasa Air<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“We will strengthen our network within the next five days from Chennai by connecting to Mumbai, India’s financial centre, which will go into operation on September 15. With the launch of the Chennai-Kochi route on September 26, we will further improve our connectivity from Chennai.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added Iyer, “Our customers will have a wide range of options to choose from when making their travel arrangements thanks to the increased capacities across these important focus cities and the competitive fares. We are excited to expand our network in order to keep our promise to gradually add more cities along with new sectors.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline received two aircraft when it first began its commercial operations, and has since received a total of four aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Inaugural flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first flight operated by Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, on 7 August<\/em> from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to establish a strong pan-Indian presence with a focus on key cities and metro to tier-2 and tier-3 route connectivity, it will continue to expand its fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of March 2023, Akasa Air will have 18 aircraft in its fleet, and over the following four years, the airline will add another 54 aircraft, bringing its total fleet size to 72.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
