Air India<\/strong> will bring salaries back to their pre-Covid levels <\/strong>from September 1. The crew layover allowances and meal plans have also been revised, in addition to this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CEO, Campbell Wilson announced<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“The airline will be restoring the salary reduction for all employees with effect from September 1, 2022”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, in a communication to the staff.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The majority of the COVID measures being sunset is a significant and welcome milestone, Wilson said, even though the airline still has a long way to go before it becomes profitable again.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India in Tata’s hands<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Tata Group<\/strong> successfully won the bid for the airline on October 8, 2017, and took control of the losing airline on January 27, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Airline began gradually raising salaries to their pre-pandemic levels earlier this year. Air India did not respond to inquiries.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline industry had been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and in order to manage their finances, the operators turned to cost-cutting measures, including salary reductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the pandemic, the company reduced the flying allowance by 35%, the special pay by 40%, and the wide body allowance by 40%. Cabin crew members’ flying and wide body allowances were reduced by 15% and 20%, respectively.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government paid off the remaining loan balance of 46,262 crores as well as an outstanding amount of about 15,000 crore for unpaid fuel bills while Tatas assumed responsibility for the debt of Air India and Air India Express Ltd totaling 15,300 crores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
