{"id":26380,"date":"2022-08-23T11:36:27","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T06:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?p=26380"},"modified":"2022-08-23T11:36:31","modified_gmt":"2022-08-23T06:06:31","slug":"tata-intends-to-increase-the-air-india-fleet-by-the-holiday-season-exclusive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/23\/tata-intends-to-increase-the-air-india-fleet-by-the-holiday-season-exclusive\/","title":{"rendered":"Tata intends to increase the Air India fleet by the holiday season | EXCLUSIVE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Tata Group has outlined an aggressive expansion plan for Air India and Air India Express<\/strong> that calls for the introduction of <strong>25 Airbus A320 Neos<\/strong> and <strong>six<\/strong> <strong>Boeing 777-200<\/strong> aircraft by the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Air_India1.jpg\" alt=\"Tata intends to increase the Air India fleet by the holiday season | EXCLUSIVE\" class=\"wp-image-20557\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Air_India1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Air_India1-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Air_India1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption>Air India to expand its <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tata-group-big-fleet-order\">Tata Group big fleet order<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The salt-to-steel conglomerate is reportedly close to finalising <strong>orders for about 200 narrowbody and widebody jets<\/strong>, but in the short term, they intend to add aircraft from the secondary lease market to increase capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>From US airline Delta, which phased out 18 of those aircraft after the pandemic, Boeing 777 aircraft will be leased.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to those who are aware of the airline&#8217;s plans, <em>the aircraft will be added to the fleet by October and will be used to increase flights on the India-US route, which is one of the most lucrative for the company.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding International routes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The airline can increase its connectivity to the US and Canada during the holiday season<\/strong> thanks to these aircraft&#8217;s long range and ability to connect cities in South India like Bengaluru and Hyderabad to the US west coast without incurring a load penalty, they claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next year, <em>the fleet will begin to include the narrowbody A320 Neo aircraft that will be leased from the secondary market, increasing capacity on domestic routes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the individuals mentioned above stated, <strong><em>&#8220;These aircraft are being leased for a shorter duration to bridge the gap until new aircraft join.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The introduction of new aircraft will take time because both Airbus and Boeing&#8217;s delivery schedules are constrained through the end of 2024, according to the sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the beginning of 2023, the airline will also have 10 wide-body aircraft that have been grounded returned to service. There are currently 43 wide-body aircraft in its fleet, 33 of which are in use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A spokesperson for Air India confirmed that <em>the airline is rapidly growing operations to meet the rising customer demands. However, the individual declined to comment on specifics regarding the routes or the anticipated increase in aircraft.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Air India, AirAsia India, and Vistara, the three airlines owned by the Tata Group, currently account for 24% of the Indian aviation market.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" the industry is confident that the post-Covid-19 recovery is well underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This will be a priority for the airline&#8217;s new owner Tata Group because fleet decisions have been
