The man fired around five shots toward the glass windows. However, his motive behind the incident remains unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Canberra Airport terminal was evacuated as a precaution and the situation at the airport is contained,&#8221; a statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police confirmed that the shots were fired in the terminal&#8217;s check-in area and no one was injured. The bullet holes were later seen in the glass windows of the check-in area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Footage shared on the internet shows a man being arrested by police officers at the airport. Media personnel and witnesses gathered outside the airport following the precautionary evacuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">ACT Police statement : &quot;One person was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ManAsIrbzZ\">pic.twitter.com\/ManAsIrbzZ<\/a><\/p>&mdash; FL360aero (@fl360aero) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fl360aero\/status\/1558694246835683328?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 14, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The police clarified that the arrested person was the only person responsible for the incident, after reviewing the CCTV footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eyewitnesses-statement\"><strong>Eyewitnesses Statement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lily Thomson, who is a reporter said she heard the gunshots and realised something was wrong when people started screaming &#8220;run&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I saw this grandma with a baby and the fear in her face and I knew it was something serious.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So we all ran and I stayed with that grandma and her baby and hid behind an information desk. We stayed there for a couple of minutes until security told us to evacuate out to the car park.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Witnesses and onlookers explained chaos at the airport&#8217;s check-in area after the security guards asked people to leave.
