For the first time in at least ten years, Air India is seeking to lease six B777 aircraft, according to officials with knowledge of the situation, who also noted that this was being done mostly because trips to North America were being delayed due to poor interiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An insider claimed that recently, malfunctioning seats have caused delays on flights to the US and Canada, notably to Vancouver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An airline official said – Air India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“Taking into account the impact on the airline operations, it has been determined that the company will lease six B777 to conduct its ultra-long-haul flights [lasting over 16 hours). There are no other problems with the current aircraft.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Flightradar24, which provides real-time information about planes worldwide, claims that Air India’s flight from Delhi to Vancouver experienced numerous delays, including one of 11 hours on July 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within three months, the plane will be put into flying operations after a two-year lease. The official stated, “The aircraft are scheduled to arrive by October and will be flown in addition to the current aircraft.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second official mentioned the present demand and noted that the airline intended to either add destinations or boost flying frequency. The six leased aircraft will be added to the fleet rather than replacing the current ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the middle of next year, the airline intends to introduce approximately 50 Airbus A350-900 and 100 A321neo aircraft that it will have purchased independently. The airline instructed its pilots to get ready for training on the A350-900 last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India will bring back its 10 wide-body aircraft to service by early 2023, the Tata-owned airline stated on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAir India\u2019s wide-body fleet now stands at 43 aircraft, of which 33 are operational. This is a significant improvement from 28 aircraft that the airline was operating till recently,\u201d <\/em><\/strong>its report stated according to the news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

141 narrow- and wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft are in the Air India fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
