DGCA enables pilots to continue flying till the age of 65, as opposed to Air India&#8217;s 58-year retirement limit. The majority of airlines in the sector follow the policy of allowing pilots to fly until the age of 65.&#8221; <\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite>Policy says<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to S. D. Tripathi, AI&#8217;s chief human resource officer (CHRO), <strong><em>&#8220;In the company&#8217;s policy on post-retirement engagement (of) pilots, published on July 29, it is proposed to retain our current trained pilots at Air India post retirement on a contractual basis for 5 years extendable to 65 years.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AI has established a screening procedure to choose pilots who will receive an extension past the age of 58.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;To assess the eligibility of pilots retiring in the next two years, a committee made up of the functional representatives of HR, operations, and flight safety will be established. The committee will be in charge of looking over the pilots&#8217; prior disciplinary, flying safety, and vigilance records.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> The policy states that following the review, the committee will recommend shortlisted candidates to the CHRO for a post-retirement contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>&#8220;A letter of intent for their post-retirement engagement will be given to pilots one year before they retire. The contract would be valid for five years with a 65-year extension option. A provision for an annual review of the contract based on performance, behaviour, and flying safety record will be included in the post-retirement contract. A thorough review of their performance will be taken into account for a further extension till the age of 65 once they have completed five years of satisfactory service.
