Air India, a company owned by the Tata Group, published a tender on Wednesday to sell its three wide-bodied B777-200LR aircraft.<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Airbus and Boeing are now in discussions with the Tata Group<\/strong>, which assumed control of Air India on January 27, about placing a sizable aircraft purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal deadline for three wide-bodied aircraft with GE90-110 engines was August 16, <\/em><\/strong>according to the solicitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Larger fuel tanks on wide-bodied aircraft enable them to fly on lengthy international routes, such as those between India and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India presently has 128 aircraft in its fleet, including the three B777-200LR aircraft mentioned above,<\/em><\/strong> according to its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for Campbell Wilson, the CEO-designate of the company to take over the airline, the home ministry granted him security clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campbell Wilson, the incoming CEO of the company, received security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). <\/strong>Campbell Wilson is now able to lead the airline thanks to the Central government’s security clearance, a senior official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After taking over the loss-making airline on January 27, Tata Sons announced Campbell Wilson’s appointment as Air India’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) on May 12.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
