With Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), Nairobi-based cargo carrier Astral Aviation has agreed to lease the first two of Embraer’s 190F passenger-to-freight converted aircraft.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a news release from Astral Aviation and Embraer, the agreement with NAC, which bills itself as the largest regional aircraft leasing firm in the world, was made on July 20, 2022, during the Farnborough International Airshow 2022.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to support the airline’s intra-African operations, Astral Aviation will deploy the aircraft from its hub in Nairobi<\/em><\/strong>, according to Sanjeev Gadhia, Astral Aviation’s founder and CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are thrilled to be the launch operator of the Embraer 190F, which will be stationed in Astral’s Nairobi hub. It will run on our intra-African network using both scheduled and charter aircraft. The E-Jet cargo platform will undoubtedly be a game-changing addition to our expanding fleet, we are certain of this”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>Gadhia stated in the joint announcement<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With the first deliveries beginning in 2024, NAC and Embraer agreed in May 2022 that NAC would accept up to 10 conversion slots for the E190F\/E195F. According to the statement, the conversion aircraft will be taken from NAC’s current E190\/E195 fleet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a launch lessor for the E-Jet freighter conversion programme, we are thrilled to have inked an MoU to place two E190F aircraft with Astral Aviation, a reputable cargo carrier serving Africa”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>stated Norman C.T. Liu, President & CEO of NAC<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

NAC wants to maintain its position as the industry leader in regional aviation and grow into larger narrow body aircraft while enhancing its skills for full life cycle asset management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support Johann Bordais stated, “Embraer’s P2F initiative, which was only introduced in February of this year, has received fantastic response. It’s wonderful to welcome yet another operator to our E-Jet family. NAC has already placed off their first two aircraft.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
