A contract between Malaysia Airlines and Airbus to replace its current fleet of 21 A330 aircraft with the more modern A330neo aircraft is almost complete.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline now operates A330s and A350s, and in 2017 it had a provisional order in place for Boeing 787 Dreamliners, but it allowed the agreement to lapse.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was informed by sources that the A330neo had been chosen as the top contender<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A representative for Malaysia Airlines told that the company is still “going through the process”<\/em> and has not yet decided whether to replace the A330.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

that the company aimed to decide on a one-for-one replacement of its A330 fleet by mid- to late-July 2022.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>Izham Ismail, the chief executive officer of Malaysia Airlines, stated<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the prior generation, the A330neo uses less fuel and emits less CO2 while flying farther. One way that airlines are attempting to meet the net-zero by 2050 goal established by IATA member airlines is through the use of newer, more efficient planes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
