According to an internal letter, IndiGo announced on Monday that it will “rationalise<\/strong>” the pay of its aircraft maintenance specialists and eliminate “anomalies caused by the epidemic”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyderabad and Delhi on Saturday and Sunday, a sizable proportion of the airline’s aircraft maintenance<\/strong> technicians took sick days in protest of their pay, according to sources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 2, almost 55% of IndiGo’s domestic flights were delayed <\/strong>as a sizable portion of its cabin crew workers took sick leave, presumably to attend an Air India recruitment drive, <\/strong>according to reports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the COVID-19 pandemic was at its worst, IndiGo had drastically reduced the salaries of a significant portion of its staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

S. C. Gupta, senior vice president<\/strong> of engineering for IndiGo, said in an email to mechanics on Monday that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the aviation sector as a whole, including IndiGo, to experience an unparalleled period of difficulty over the past 30 months. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \"I am aware of some of your complaints regarding wage increases <\/strong>and I recognise that during the last two years we have not been able to update your compensation<\/strong> in line with historical levels. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n
